WEST Midlands Police has recovered five laptops stolen from staff at the University of Birmingham and two student laptops, with help from Computrace® by Absolute® Software.

Five laptops were stolen from the University grounds, while two of its students fell victim to theft as their laptops were taken from multi-occupied homes. Once reported stolen the Absolute Theft Recovery Team was able to determine the location of the devices using investigative techniques and subsequently prepare evidence packs that were passed to officers at Bournville Lane police station. This allowed them to retrieve the computers and subsequently make arrests.
