2010 to mark new ‘green’ era for marketing

~ Keith Jones at Acxiom warns non-green marketers will finish last ~

Marketers that don’t adopt ‘green’ habits won’t keep their jobs past the end of the decade. That’s the message Keith Jones, group leader of multi-industry solutions and services at Acxiom, will give at the Marketing Week Green Marketing Forum on Wednesday, November 28.

He will announce that green marketing is smart marketing – and this is to become apparent over the next few years, with companies set to lag behind if they do not review their environmental strategy.

Jones makes the point that green and commerce go hand in hand: “A successful marketing campaign is a green campaign – they are one and the same.”

“2010 will be the tipping point for marketers. Far too many companies have green intentions, but don’t act on it – they should be thinking about the effectiveness, efficiency and sustainability of their activities,” said Jones.

“For companies to be successful, they need to be more focused on who they target and how, through understanding the needs of their customers and improving the quality of the marketing data,” continued Jones.

The Marketing Week Green Marketing Forum is today Wednesday, November 28 at the Kensington Hilton hotel.
