Aberdeen City Council implements real-time performance management solution

Consilium Technologies secures six-figure deal to transform mobile working practices

September 18, 2007

Aberdeen City Council, one of the largest maintenance organisations in the North of Scotland, has agreed a five-year deal worth £650,000 with Consilium Technologies to radically overhaul its Building Services information systems. It will support mobile working practices with the aim of delivering a quicker and more reliable end to end service based on tenant appointments.

The Consilium solution will implement TotalRepair, a management information system for all responsive and planned maintenance for all public buildings and around 24,000 homes. The new system will be used by 100 concurrent users in the back office, together with Consilium‚s TotalMobile technology. TotalMobile will enable 150 of the 300+ field-based operatives to receive and complete job information on the move, using Windows Mobile-enabled devices.

The mobile strategy will create a more efficient working process for the Council‚s operatives - staff can complete additional jobs on a daily basis and reduce their travel time as well as paper usage and data entry. In addition, the implementation will assist the Council in tracking against specific government targets and provide a more effective means of reporting.

Executive quote

"With the current solution no longer able to support future working practices, Aberdeen City Council required a partner capable of helping them meet the challenges associated with managing a major city,‰ said Gareth Tolerton, chief technology officer, Consilium Technologies. „The Consilium solution ensures frontline council staff are out on the streets providing key services such as housing repairs, infrastructure maintenance or incident reporting."

"Consilium has delivered a tailored technology solution capable of addressing our current requirements, whilst also providing a platform with which to meet the challenges of tomorrow."
