May 12, 2008

Consilium Technologies has appointed Malcolm Thompson as chief operating officer. Thompson’s in-depth IT and telecoms expertise will consolidate the mobile specialist’s position in its key local government and housing markets and support future growth for the firm.

With more than 20 years’ experience in start-ups and technology driven companies, Thompson joined Consilium Technologies in 2007 from Eircom. At Eircom he was instrumental in expanding the network infrastructure, building a solid customer base and achieving the first ever UK broadband connection under local loop unbundling legislation.

Promoted from operations manager, Thompson will be wholly responsible for managing new project implementations as well as the technical and customer service departments. His key objectives will be to maintain and improve operational efficiency, technical excellence and client contract delivery.

He has previously held senior posts with UTV Internet, including managing director designate and operations manager. Thompson was hugely influential in introducing new products and entering new markets during a period of rapid expansion.

Since joining Consilium Technologies, Thompson has quickly progressed, utilising his experience to devise and implement a strategy taking Consilium into the private sector market. In addition, Thompson has overseen the reorganisation of the firm into strategic business units while also strengthening project management methodologies.

Customer quote

“Consilium’s integrated solution is both innovative and effective, helping public, private and emergency service organisations across the UK and beyond to transform working practices through mobile working,” said Thompson. “I am relishing the opportunity to work with a proven solution, ensuring existing and future customers achieve a high rate of return on investment.”
