Dickinson Dees LLP advises on £65 million PFI project for Nationwide Building Society

national expertise in funding secures senior debt investment in Dorset Emergency Services Partnership Initiative

Newcastle-based Dickinson Dees has advised Nationwide Building Society on a senior debt investment in the Dorset Emergency Services Partnership Initiative (DESPI) PFI, between the Fire and Rescue Service and the Police Service.

Nationwide Building Society has funded the senior debt requirements of the project, with capital investment totalling approximately £65 million. The project will deliver a new joint police divisional and fire area headquarters, an additional fire service area headquarters and two new fire stations. All new facilities are expected to be operational in the next couple of years.

The five-strong Dickinson Dees’ team, headed by partner Russell Jarvis, a specialist in public sector project funding, delivered legal counsel on all aspects of the PFI, which involved expertise from the firm’s property, finance, construction and projects teams.
