National Theatre casts Emprise in lead role

South Bank venue puts cleaning expertise centre stage

April 09, 2008

The National Theatre has signed a deal with Emprise Services Plc to deliver a full front and back of house cleaning service to its three theatres. The deal puts a dedicated management team at the theatre, who will be in charge of cleaning the venue between 6.00am and 10.00pm.

The contract will involve approximately 39 staff who will clean the theatres’ various restaurants, exhibition areas and a bookshop. It will also include the cleaning of an armoury, wig, costume-makers and scenery workshops.

“After seeing a number of suppliers during the tendering exercise, Emprise was selected for its professional approach,” said Patrick Harrison at the National Theatre. “It made sense to outsource to a company which had the kind of experience and industry knowledge that would have been difficult to find from an in-house team.”

“It’s crucial for us to ensure that the theatre is a welcoming place for visitors and staff. It houses so many diverse areas which need to be cleaned with care and with Emprise, we believe we are able to trust the team to deliver the level of service we need,” he added.

“The Emprise contract manager was on site a full month prior to start date to ensure that we understood the way the venue operates and we could hit the ground running,” said Lesley Shearman at Emprise. “Our main priority is to ensure a pleasant and professional experience for both visitors and staff, right from our ‘opening night’.”
