Cyber shoppers peak at 3pm as voucher codes boost online sales

December 08, 2009

Thousands of people logged on to do their Christmas shopping via the web yesterday, with record numbers using voucher codes to take advantage of the best deals.

‘Cyber Monday’ peaked at 3pm according to Everydaysale.co.uk, a leading UK voucher code website. Visitors to the site surged by 68 per cent compared to last year and 30 per cent overall with the most popular retailers being Debenhams and Play.com.

Debenhams is offering free delivery on all orders over £70 and Play.com is offering 20 per cent off all clothing orders.

‘Online shopping is more popular than ever before, with 20 per cent of all gifts expected to be purchased online in the run up to Christmas this year” said Bonn Chen, managing director at everydaysale.co.uk.

“The recession has resulted in many people shopping around and the best bargains can often be found online. The facts speak for themselves - consumers don’t want to be crushed on the high street, instead preferring to shop from the comfort of their own home. The bargains are there for savvy shoppers, just waiting to be found.”
