Security scares drive Server 2008 upgrade
Firebrand Training launches new courses as companies get set to switch
Over half (56 per cent) of companies are considering upgrading to Windows Server 2008 because of enhanced security features, according to research from Firebrand Training, formerly The Training Camp.
Server 2008 will be launched in February, and is the most secure Windows system ever developed. The study, which questioned 300 IT professionals demonstrates that security is creeping ever higher on the boardroom agenda following a number of high-profile breaches over the last twelve months.
In response, Firebrand Training has launched three new courses aimed at providing those already familiar with Server 2003 with a comprehensive view of new features included in Server 2008.
The Accelerated Learning programmes range between one and six days. A one-day ‘first look’ course will familiarise users with the new features, whilst the three-day course allows students to partake in hands-on workshops and explores the new features in more depth and the six-day programme allows delegates to obtain the Windows Server 2008 MCTS qualification.
After qualification, users will be able to increase the flexibility of network infrastructures with more control and advanced protection measures.
IT professionals can sneak a preview of the new platform at the UK’s first ever one-day overview course on February 6 – run by Firebrand Training at Microsoft’s Reading headquarters.
For more information on Microsoft Server 2008 and to receive a discount on the one-day programme, visit www.firebrandtraining.co.uk before December 31, 2007.
Executive quote
”Security is an issue that no organisation can afford to ignore,“ said Rob Chapman, CEO at Firebrand Training. ”Security scares will cause many companies to upgrade to Server 2008 – but IT managers and administrators have to understand exactly how they can get the best out of the platform. This will not only increase confidence within the organisation, but amongst customers too.’
About the company
Firebrand Training is challenging the way in which professional training is delivered.
Firebrand Training, formerly known as The Training Camp, has pioneered Accelerated Learning courses for busy IT professionals. The organisation’s innovative approach to course delivery has led to its status as the Institute of IT Training’s “IT Training Company of the Year” for the past two years.
Students are totally immersed in the subject matter, receiving an average of 12 hours intense tuition per day at a residential training site. Subject experts implement a range of teaching methodologies designed to fit with how we best understand and retain information during different periods in the day. Accelerated Learning is an attractive proposition for contractors, whose time commands very high premiums, and employers who need to minimise staff absence. Firebrand Training has an above average pass rate of 85% - confounding critics’ claims that Accelerated Learning fails to produce results.
Firebrand Training was founded by Robert Chapman and Stefano Capaldo in Summer 2001 as The Training Camp. Stefano was a former student in the US and rated the company’s approach so highly that he decided to launch a programme of courses in the UK. The organisation has since been recognised by Microsoft as a Gold Partner for Learning Solutions (MCPLS) and over 12,000 students have been trained in the UK to date. The success of the company enabled the management team to relaunch as Firebrand Training, which is focused on delivering training courses specifically designed for a European market.
Firebrand Training offers a range of courses covering all major vendors such as Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, Sun, and Novell, as well as specialist certifications in the areas of security, business intelligence, project and business process management.
