Kofax® wins $2.1 million contract with National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)

Enterprise-Level Capture and Exchange Solution will handle processing of millions of U.S. Federal Government documents

Kofax plc, a global leader of Intelligent Capture & Exchange solutions, has announced it has won a $2.1 million contract with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the official records keeper for the United States Federal Government. Kofax will provide NARA’s Federal Records Centres (FRC) with an enterprise-level solution for electronically capturing and processing millions of the nation’s vital documents.

Following an extensive competitive review, Kofax was selected after demonstrating its superior capture and exchange solutions, its solid enterprise features, and the scope of its distributed capture options to convert millions of paper documents created daily by the U.S. Government to electronic records. This digital shift is part of a priority initiative set forth by the President’s Management Agenda to create and provide electronic records for preservation and use by the government and citizens.

The NARA solution is based on Kofax Intelligent Capture & Exchange concept, the centrepiece of Kofax’s strategy to help organisations streamline business processes. NARA will be using a full complement of Kofax solutions – including Kofax Capture, Kofax Transformation and VirtualReScan (VRS) – to capture paper and electronic documents and forms in a digital format. The information will then transform content into accurate data, and deliver the resulting information into organisational applications and repositories.

NARA has been providing comprehensive records management support and archival guidance and services to the Federal Government since 1934. Opening its first records centre in 1950, NARA has developed a national system that provides federal agencies with access to over 25 million cubic feet of documents.

Kofax helps organisations such as NARA automate document-driven business processes by managing the transformation and exchange of business-critical information arising in paper, fax and electronic formats in a more accurate, timely and cost-effective manner.
