SDL Tridion fastest growing enterprise class Web Content Management vendor in 2007

US expansion and growth in European market share drive strong results

March 11, 2008

SDL Tridion, a leading global provider of Web Content Management (WCM) software solutions and a division of SDL, today released more details around its record-setting financial results in 2007.

SDL Tridion’s revenues hit a record USD 42M in 2007 driven by strong expansion in the US and UK markets as well as market share growth across Europe. With year-on-year revenue growth of 58% and license revenue growth of 67%, SDL Tridion was by far the fastest growing enterprise class WCM vendor in 2007. Net profit also reached record levels in 2007 and net margin was a class leading 16% of revenues in spite of heavy investments in global expansion and incidental costs related to the acquisition by SDL.

The substantial number of new customers in 2007 includes TomTom, Fortis ASR, NXP Semiconductors, State of Minnesota, Miami Dade, Tibco Software, Zesko, Martinair, Sonofon, Telenor, Gulf Bank, Philippine Airlines, Exact Holding, Merck KGaA, RIU Hotels & Resorts, Archant, Greater London Authority, Hanley Wood, Fedict, and Belgian National Lottery. Many existing customers extended their SDL Tridion installations.

Executive quote

Mark Lancaster, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SDL commented: “The strong overall performance of SDL was achieved as a result of the company making excellent progress across both the technology and services business units in the SDL Group. We are particularly encouraged by the strong contribution from the SDL Tridion business unit, acquired in May 2007. Their award winning technology for managing global web content represents a very successful key element of our Global Information Management strategy.”

“We are delighted with our very strong 2007 results. As organisations around the world recognize the importance of providing a superior online customer experience to their global customers, we expect to see further growth in the Web Content Management market in 2008,” said Pieter Varkevisser, CEO of SDL Tridion, “For many organisations the best growth opportunities are found in international markets, which is driving a strong increase in demand for WCM solutions with strong web globalisation capabilities. The combination of SDL Tridion R5 with the leading Global Information Management technology from SDL is uniquely positioned to serve this demand. SDL Tridion R5 now manages both the creation and publishing of web content, together with management of the translation supply chain to create the first web content management system that can truly create and manage global content. SDL Tridion expects further growth in 2008 as it continues to heavily invest in its global expansion and software solutions portfolio.”
