SDL is selected by Renault to manage its localisation processes

March 26, 2008

Maidenhead, UK – 26th March 2008. SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, today announced that SDL technologies have been selected by Renault.

With a strategic initiative to enhance customer satisfaction as part of its growth plan, Renault focused on providing high-quality multilingual technical services documentation to its service departments. SDL was selected as the preferred vendor, based on their proven ability to improve content quality, reduce cost, and shorten the time needed to deliver multilingual service manuals to worldwide Renault service centres.

The main challenge of this agreement is to translate large volumes of complex technical documentation into multiple languages. Moreover, Renault wanted to manage the extended localisation supply chain to ensure quality throughout, while driving down localisation costs and process time. The SDL solution will deliver two technologies to help achieve the goal: the SDL Translation Management System™ technology will manage the processes and tasks associated with translating local language content, and its seamless integration with the SDL Knowledge-based Translation System™ will deliver sophisticated automated translation software with the skills of human translators to ensure publishable quality.

“We selected a Global Information Management solution from SDL to help us in our global quality approach," explained Peyman Kargar, Vice President, engineering, repair and warranty within Renault Service, sales and marketing quality division. "The SDL solution was the most convenient one which demonstrated the ability to support our enterprise-wide deployment, and to scale up according to our global growth.”

“We are thrilled to be helping Renault achieve its ambitious global expansion plans," commented Mark Lancaster, CEO and Chairman of SDL. "Renault has identified the importance language plays in supporting a global business. Our Global Information Management strategy helps global companies interact more efficiently with their customers, and in their own language. This is a critical aspect of a successful international enterprise.”
