Library designer shelves product management problems with Stibo Systems

~ Demco implements STEP to manage multi-channel product marketing across EMEA ~

June 16, 2009

Demco Europe, the UK’s leading library supplies company, has signed a new deal with Product Information Management (PIM) supplier Stibo Systems to organise its product range of specially designed library resources.

The company will use Stibo Systems’ STEP solution to centralise product information for all its EMEA brands and streamline information across all its products – which include library furniture, AV displays and book scanning equipment. This will improve Demco’s agility to respond to the market, compete more effectively and remove the manual processes in the production cycle.

Demco supplies customers in the public, educational, academic, private and commercial sectors – and its brands include Gresswell, which provides supplies to library professionals and LFC, which works to make libraries engaging for children at school through an extensive range of learning resources.

STEP will ensure information is consistent between different marketing channels, including online and printed catalogues as well as Demco’s contact centre and support operations

Previously, product information was manually inputted. So STEP will help improve the efficiency of Demco’s catalogue production, and will allow the company’s consultants to focus on their day jobs.

Executive quote

“Demco Europe products are designed to a high specification with a specialised and demanding audience in mind – so there’s no room for error when it comes to product information,” said Roger Twigg, Sales Director UK at Stibo Systems. “Keeping this kind of information consistent in different countries and across different languages can be an even bigger task, but is crucial for companies looking to deliver a class-leading service as efficiently as possible.”

Customer quote

“With over 12,000 products to manage, it can be time-consuming and costly to stay on top of price and description changes, and to make sure those changes are consistent throughout our various channels and across our markets,” said Sue Smart, director of marketing at Demco. “Using STEP, managing the information supply chain will be much less complex, and we’ll be able to ensure all channels have the right product information at the right time. As a result, we get to concentrate on servicing our customers’ needs, rather than worrying about the accuracy of our product data.”
