Silentnight puts process nightmares to bed with UC4

- bed manufacturer slashes JDE overnight workload by 3 hours with dynamic scheduling -

Silentnight, the UK’s largest bed manufacturer has announced its implementation of workload automation specialist UC4 to optimise the company’s business processes. UC4 will automate the company’s comprehensive JD Edwards ERP implementation across its three sites in the UK to cut process time.

With a customer commitment to build and deliver beds within with aggressive lead times, the team could not afford to keep waiting on the IT system and needed to optimise IT processes to align with business demands. The JDE ERP system was generating massive quantities of transaction data, much of which required batch processing.

UC4 will provide information on business operations in a format that both the IT team and the rest of the organisation can easily understand. By presenting complex data in a digestible format, the validity of business decisions and how IT can support or hinder them can be rapidly assessed resulting in easier business decisions being made. UC4 will also automate Silentnight’s business intelligence software, which drives the businesses production dashboard and allows instant brand analysis dissected by models and ranges.

UC4 has linked numerous systems together removing the need for staff to individually commence process. Combined with balancing the demands of real time and batch processing Silentnight staff will be provided with access to real time data across the whole organisation, which was historically very difficult to achieve. Silentnight also estimates that it is saving approximately three hours each night on the jobs that are being processed.
