VoiteQ earns its supply chain stripes

~ Zebra partnership sees ‘hands-free, eyes-free’ warehouse picking ~

May 19, 2008

Zebra Technologies has awarded VoiteQ with certified partner status, enabling the two companies to offer an improved voice-activated picking/put away system for warehouse employees.

Using combined technology from VoiteQ and Zebra, warehouse workers use a headset to guide them to the products they need to pick or put away. This information is then transferred via radio frequency to a mobile or desktop Zebra printer, which produces the appropriate labels that list the contents of a palette. This ‘hands-free, eyes-free’ process saves time and improves accuracy in busy warehouses.

“Increasingly, warehouse managers are turning to more innovative technology to work efficiently and avoid ‘asset apathy’, where goods that should be delivered or sold are left floundering in warehouses, losing value,” said Mike Pitt, regional sales manager, UK and Ireland, at Zebra Technologies. “Using voice-activated technology in conjunction with Zebra printers will help businesses avoid these problems. For Zebra, the partnership will broaden our reach among end users and provide a wider offering to customers.”

Zebra and VoiteQ already have several mutual customers, including retailer John Lewis, and the partnership is the logical next step to increase the number of joint implementations.

“We often encounter Zebra printers during site visits, and have always found them to be hard-wearing and reliable. The products are an excellent fit for our requirements, and those of our customers, ” said Simon Burnett, Senior Account Manager at VoiteQ. “We’re pleased to have met Zebra’s stringent requirements for certification, and expect the partnership to improve the quality of service we offer to existing and prospective customers.”
