Cinequest Releases Controversial Film Out of Balance

Stirring Documentary Makes Claims About Worlds Largest Oil Company’s Impact on Global Warming; Proceeds to Help Rebuild Alaskan Youth Center

SAN JOSE, Calif. - November 06, 2007

Cinequest Distribution proudly announces the DVD and Internet release of Out of Balance: ExxonMobils Impact on Climate Change, an exposé claiming underhanded methods used by the worlds largest company to deceive the public on the issue of climate change.

ExxonMobils alleged methods which include media campaigns and funding climate skeptics are detailed along with its refusal to acknowledge climate change as an issue, its influence over the Bush Administration, and its history dating back through the Exxon Valdez disaster to the early days of Standard Oil. Out of Balance: ExxonMobils Impact on Climate Change alleges that ExxonMobil uses its power to rake in record profits all the while being one of the worlds biggest polluters.

Al Gores An Inconvenient Truth revealed the sobering reality of a world in massive meltdown; Out of Balance: ExxonMobils Impact on Climate Change goes one step further by pointing a finger at a specific culprit and calling for overall corporate responsibility. The documentary was awarded the Best Feature Film in the Environmental Preservation category at the Artivist Film Festival. The film offers innovative, large-scale ideas for global social change that must take place if theres any chance of having a sustainable planet for future generations.

The documentary features commentary from and interviews with several scientific and environmental experts including: world-renowned climate scientists Michael Oppenheimer and Robert Watson, former U.S. Climate Change Science Program Senior Associate Rick Piltz, and R.K. Pachauri, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. Additionally, the film profiles a group of scientists, business executives and environmentalists including Greenpeace Research Director, Kert Davies, that are determined to battle and overcome ExxonMobil.

The 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill harmed miles of coastland, created fiscal damage to the local fishing industry, destroyed crops, and put peoples health in jeopardy. For 18 years ExxonMobil has appealed the litigation process and has avoided paying $2.5 billion in punitive damages to the families involved in the case.

To foster change, Cinequest will donate $10.00 from every sale of Out of Balance purchased at www.cinequestonline.org. Proceeds will go to the Bidarki Youth Center in Cordova, Alaska. This effort will help benefit a community that was negatively impacted by the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster.
