Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of end-to-end Internet business solutions, announced today its Flow Control Platform (FCP) is providing optimized network service for Gigenet, a leading managed dedicated hosting company located in Chicago, IL. The FCP is the foundation of a significant network upgrade that delivers increased capacity and reliability to Gigenet’s customers.

Gigenet provides managed hosting services to small and medium businesses (SMB) as well as a number of the Fortune 500 and professional sports teams. This performance is attributed to a 100% network uptime service level agreement (SLA), an industry leading Web-based service portal, and high-performance managed server configurations based on dual, quad and 8-core servers that can include virtualization, security, and storage.

The Internap FCP provides network performance management and monitoring across multiple Internet connections. Without an FCP, Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is often the default routing mechanism. BGP routes data over statically defined connections, which frequently results in poor performance. The FCP’s approach, leveraging Internap’s leadership as an IP networking pioneer, proactively monitors network connections, analyzes performance and dynamically routes traffic for maximum performance and cost-effectiveness.
