Phoenix Media Captures Wider Online Audience with Internap Optimized IP Solutions

Alternative publisher expands customer base; Gains fast, reliable access to online content with Internap's premium Internet solutions

ATLANTA, GA - July 13, 2007

Internap Network Services Corporation (NASDAQ: INAP), a global provider of fast, reliable end-to-end Internet business solutions, today announced that Phoenix Media/ Communications Group, an alternative arts and entertainment publisher, has benefited from a 1300% percent increase in its peak Web user base by improving network performance through Internap's Performance IP(tm) service. Internap supports all of Phoenix Media's Web-based applications and allows the Boston-based company to provide a consistently dependable user experience for each of its 12 online media properties, which are accessed via www.thephoenix.com.

Internap's premium IP services allow Phoenix Media to provide ad-supported music video streams in-house, to reach and connect with an eclectic target demographic via its pioneer alternative music radio station, www.fnxradio.com. The optimized bandwidth has also allowed Phoenix Media to grow its online advertising revenue from sponsors and advertisers including AT&T, Best Buy, Budweiser, Dunkin Donuts, Guitar Center, Nissan, Southern Comfort, and Verizon, in line with the company's expansion goals.

Phoenix Media leverages Internap's Private Network Access Point (P-NAP) architecture, which includes patented intelligent route control technology. As a result, the company experiences increased network uptime and faster Web page response times. Internap's premium IP service also supports more page views on Phoenix Media's sites, especially during sudden traffic spikes.

100% Reliability and 24x 7 Support
In 2006, the Associated Press newswire service, major news aggregators and search engines picked up Phoenix Media's tongue-in-cheek "100 Unsexiest Men in the World" article, leading to a six-fold increase in Web traffic which crashed Phoenix media's Web servers and slowed internal applications for up to a week thereafter.

This year, Phoenix Media did not lose a second to outages or poor IP performance when it published the 2007 version of the article. Instead, the network's optimized connectivity, which is backed by Internap's 100% uptime guarantee and 24 x 7 Network Operations Center (NOC) support, allowed the site to achieve 400,000 page views in a single day without disrupting needs for internal networked applications.

Additionally, by consolidating multiple operating systems and applications onto servers in an Internap facility, Phoenix Media has gained a more powerful, flexible, and robust infrastructure that will allow it to deploy virtualization technology as part of its business continuity and disaster recovery plan.
