Survey Reveals IT Service Providers Do Not Proactively Manage IT Systems

More than half of respondents hindered by reactive IT support, minimizing efficiency and limiting profitability

Lausanne, Switzerland - June 30, 2009

The majority of IT service providers still employ a ‘break/fix’ IT practice, responding to incidents only after they happen, according to a survey of over 2,200 IT Service Providers, Value Added Resellers (VARs) and IT consultants.
The respondents, of which 80 percent manage less than 1,000 machines and more than 50 percent have employees who provide support services remotely, replied that monitoring and security issues are the largest challenges and having a reliable, efficient IT system is crucial. Back-up and systems administration were also mentioned as obstacles they faced.

The 2009 IT Services Trends and Practices Survey, commissioned by Kaseya, shows most respondents are operating in reactive IT environments, which limits profits, reduces productivity and lowers ROI. In today’s difficult economic environment, break/fix models can hinder the success of MSPs and IT consultants.
