Alexandre Winter Named Chief Executive Officer of LTU Technologies

Several leadership changes highlighted by new CEO; goal to enhance global sales channels and product research

Washington, DC - October 17, 2007

LTU Technologies, the global leader in image search and recognition solutions, today named Alexandre Winter as its Chief Executive Officer. A LTU Co-Founder, Winter’s earlier role at LTU was Chief Technology Officer. Before founding LTU Technologies in 1999, Winter worked as a researcher at the Image and Multimedia Indexing Group at the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) where he developed new image segmentation and retrieval algorithms, and published articles in international conferences and journals. He also worked as an engineer at Aerospatiale, now part of EADS, the leading European company in aeronautics, aerospace and defense manufacturing. Winter received his Ph.D. with honors in Image Processing from the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Telecommunications” in Paris.

Other leadership changes at LTU include Frederic Jahard, previously Director of Product Development is now Chief Technology Officer and P. Kevin Smith has expanded his prior role as Vice President of Sales for North America to Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing. The company personnel changes signal a focus on expanding sales globally into new markets and a push towards the research and development of new image search and recognition offerings.

LTU provides industry standard tools needed to automatically control and help manage large amounts of digital images and video. Applications of this technology range from online content protection to copyright infringement and liability/risk management, as well as forensic investigations of seized material. LTU’s core technology analyzes the pixels of a digital image or video to create a digital signature or "image DNA” that describes the key visual features of each image. This approach, combined in LTU’s products with various other automatic intelligent content recognition technologies, has proven to offer a reliable alternative or a powerful enhancer for the manual processing of data.

“This is an exciting time for LTU Technologies as the market for advanced multimedia content recognition tools continues to grow and expand across industries and through out the world,” said Noboru Nakatani, Chairman of the Board of LTU technologies. “Alex is unique in that he has the executive leadership skills as well as the research expertise necessary for LTU to carry out its next phase of growth.”

"As a co-founder of LTU eight years ago, I am deeply dedicated to the continued success and growth of the company,” said Winter. “I believe the stars are finally getting aligned and the market for automated multimedia content recognition systems will boom in the coming years. I look forward to ensuring that LTU gains significant share of this market, after having been a pioneer in this field for more than seven years. Our team is excited about this opportunity to make things happen.”

Chahab Nastar stepped down as LTU CEO, but will remain on the company’s Board of Directors.
