Photobucket Launches Real-Time Video Uploader

March 26, 2007

Photobucket, the largest personal media site with over 39 million users, has launched a beta of the Photobucket Video Uploader, offering real-time upload and publishing functionality to the mass market.

Photobucket receives approximately 45,000 daily video uploads from its user base, making it one of the top three user-generated video sites on the Web behind MySpace and YouTube.

The Photobucket Video Uploader offers Windows PC* users:

•    Drag-and-drop video functionality for instant uploading and sharing with no lag time

•    On-the-fly video editing - users can easily trim and slice the beginning and end of a video before uploading

•    Direct Webcam support – users can immediately record video from their webcam and make it instantly available for sharing on Photobucket

•    Unique real-time client encoding technology that provides much faster uploads to Photobucket’s site

“We know our users have a huge appetite for creating their own video content, so we wanted to make it easier for them to capture, upload and share those creations with the world,” said Alex Welch, CEO at Photobucket. “This service is a real first for the mass market, and we believe it will accelerate video uploads in a big way, as it provides the instant gratification factor that’s been lacking with video on the web to date.”

*Initial beta for Windows only

The Photobucket Video Uploader will be available in beta from Thursday, March 29 at http://www.photobucket.com. Users can access it by clicking on “Upload” then “Video” in their Photobucket albums.
